Ways To Give

There are many ways to contribute to Yakima Valley Partners Habitat for Humanity. Below are some of our most popular giving options.

Yakima County has a real shortage of affordable housing. Fair market rent for a two bedroom apartment is $750. This means a single parent earning minimum wage will spend 48% of his or her gross income paying for housing. For low-income families this means:

  • Having to choose between paying rent and purchasing adequate food, paying bills or buying health insurance
  • Moving frequently due to rent increases
  • Living in crowded and unsafe conditions
  • Not being able to save for their family’s future

Your support helps provide permanent, affordable housing for Habitat partner families. Your donation enters a “revolving fund” initially used to buy materials or acquire land. After the home is built, the partner family pays a zero to one percent interest mortgage used to build future Habitat homes.

Monthly recurring donations may be set up by calling us at 509-453-8077. If, for any reason, you wish to end your recurring monthly donation, please login to this webpage, and/or send a written email to Cathy Meadows at cmeadows@yakimahabitat.org. Requests must be made 5 days in advance to the donation date

Through home sponsorship, your company, faith group, organization or family will be part of a process that will give a partner family the key to not only a home, but a successful life.

As a home sponsor, you have the opportunity to work alongside partner families to bring them closer to their dream of home ownership through your investment and your efforts.

A personal announcement card will be sent to the person of your choice letting them know that the donation has been made in their name.

Stocks and Bonds

A charitable gift of stocks or bonds provides an opportunity for tax savings while generously sharing with others. A gift of stock owned for more than one year entitles you to a charitable deduction for the full market value at the time the gift is made. If the stock has appreciated, you also avoid a capital gains tax on the appreciation. In addition to helping Habitat, you may diversify away from low-basis, long-term holdings into other assets that will better suit your current needs. If you would like to discuss a gift of stocks or bonds, please call our office at 509-453-8077.
