These two homes, built side by side in Granger, were the project of many of our summer 2006 workcamp volunteers. These groups came from all over to spend a week during the summer building a home with Yakima Valley Partners Habitat for Humanity. They provided an enormous amount of labor during the summer and we are extremely grateful for their support!

30 Volunteers from St. Matthew Lutheran Church (Beaverton, OR) showed up on Sunday, April 23 to get settled in their host church Sunnyside United Methodist Church, and ready themselves for their week of construction work on the Sandoval Family’s House in Granger.
In five days, the house went from a foundation and decking, to a framed house with siding, roofing, and doors.
St. Matthew Lutheran has been volunteering with Yakima Valley Partners Habitat for Humanity for 19 years and has already reserved a week to work in April 2007!
Thanks to these volunteers, Sergio & Lupe Sandoval, along with their two children, Camilla (3) and Sergio Jr. (10 months), are that much closer to a simple, decent, affordable home.
