CONSTRUCTION PHOTOS

At long last the ReStore will fully sponsor a Habitat home in 2006!  A building site has been acquired and prepared and we began construction in early February.

The building site is at 606 South 12th Street between Beech and High streets in Yakima.  This is a mixed neighborhood of both well maintained and poorly maintained houses one block east of Fair avenue.

First the walls go up and now the roof!

Painting time is coming up!  Hey, check out this sign!

Debbie works on the insulation, along with others.

Kitchen cabinets on top, but the bottom cabinets will have to wait until the flooring is in.

It is just two blocks from the newly constructed baseball fields visible from I-82.  This is just the type of neighborhood where a few Habitat families can tip the balance in favor of family home ownership.

This first ReStore-sponsored home is truly the work of many, many hands.  Hundreds of donors have brought us merchandise.  Hundreds of customers have shopped in our store.  Our loyal store volunteers have contributed over 5,000 hours of their time.

The Klaus Family is very excited to have been chosen to build and buy this simple, decent home, interest free.  "I've rented all my life and I'm just so happy to finally be able to own my own home..."

A retaining wall is being built on the North

side of the house and arborvitaes will be

planted between the two homes.
